We always recommend that you transition any new food to your dog gradually, over a period of 10 days. This is stated on the packaging. Sudden changes in their diet can result in an upset stomach or digestive issues, so it’s best to start small and build up slowly. Applaws dry is a high protein, grain-free dog food which your furry friend will love but they will need to adjust to – depending on their previous diet. It is not uncommon for your dog’s toilet habits to change. You may see looser stools during this transitional period, but over time they should firm up again – a good sign of a healthy digestive system.

Portion size depends on many factors, such as the breed of your dog, whether they’re male or female, their age, their weight and how active they are. We have included a guide on all of our packs to help you serve just the right amount of our Toppers. These quantities are to be served alongside your dog’s favourite dry food, so please remember to reduce the amount of dry food accordingly and balance the intake of calories throughout the day.

All Applaws Dry Dog recipes have been formulated with fibre sources, including Dried Chicory which contains FOS and Yeast wall which contains Beta-glucans and MOS as prebiotics, as well as postbiotics which can help to support a balanced gut and healthy digestion. Chicken is always the first ingredient to be easily digestible. If you are in any doubt about the digestive health of your pet, please talk to your vet. 

Yes, all Applaws Dry Dog recipes are grain free.  This recipe is crafted with natural ingredients, with added vitamins & minerals.  Our kibble is made without grains, tapioca or maize and contains no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. With fewer fillers and more of the good stuff, it gives your pet more of what they need to feel their best – inside and out.

It’s important to gradually transition your dog onto a new kibble.  Sudden changes can sometimes cause digestive upset, whereas a slow transition will allow your pet’s system to adjust to new ingredients and nutrient levels.  Our recommended transition plan is below however, if you are in any doubt, please talk to your vet. :

Recommended transition plan (7–10 days):

Days 1–2: ¾ old food, ¼ new Applaws dry dog food

Days 3–4: ½ old food, ½ new Applaws dry dog food

Days 5–6: ¼ old food, ¾ new Applaws dry dog foodDay 7+:  Serve only new Applaws dry dog food
